Over the last couple months, I have been deluged with wedding-related snail mail and e-mail offers.
And never mind the phone calls.
I got one from “Amanda” at American Prestige and another call from Unintelligible at Bridal Awards. Wouldn’t you know, I’ve won not one, but TWO free honeymoons! All this for a woman who’s never won a raffle in her entire life.

I am The Bride. I think like many brides, I am simultaneously drawn to and repulsed by the wedding industry. My internal wedding-planning dialogue goes something like this: “Man, that’s ugly/stupid/useless, why would I want that? But oh, look at this! Oooh, pretty! Holy crap, it’s $67,458!! Why didn’t we elope again? But oh, look at that! Yaaaaaay wedding!!”
